ART EXHIBITION: SINGAPORE CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS SHOW.
VENUE: HANOI CONTEMPORARY ART CENTER.
DURATION: 11TH SEPTEMBER 2002 TO 23RD SEPTEMBER 2002
6 Singapore artists will travel to Hanoi, Vietnam to present an art exhibition. They are: Benjamin Puah, Woon Tien Wei, Zulkifle Mahmod, Jeremy Hiah, Kai Lam and Rizman Putra. While this is the first collaborative effort made between Vietnam Fine Arts Association and The Artists Village from Singapore to present artworks by Singapore artists, the artists are also active individual practitioners involved in various art activities locally and overseas. The works that the artists will be presenting are Paintings, Interactive Paintings, Sculptures and Art Installations, with the aim of creating cultural dialogue with the Vietnamese art community.
The exhibition which is scheduled to open publicly on the 11th September 2002 is to mark the 1st anniversary of the September 11th tragedy and to pay homage to the sudden passing of sculptor and LaSalle-SIA college of the Arts founder, Brother Joseph McNally, who has been pivotal and contributive to the arts education of Singapore.
The exhibition collaboration with Hanoi Contemporary Art Center (HCAC) is part of The Artists Village's itinerary this year to create and maintain a long-term relationship with regional artists and art organisers based in South-east Asia. The objective here is to create an artists-based network so as to create more possibilities and facilitation of art activities and art-issues around this region.
Singapore Contemporary Art Show is organised by The Artists Village in collaboration with Vietnam Fine Arts Association.
Participating artists from TAV are Jeremy Hiah, Kai, Rizman Putra and Tien.
